Tequila is one of those drinks that comes with its own script: salt on the hand, shot down the throat, lime to seal it – a quick ritual that feels more like a dare than a tasting. So when I heard, “let’s have some tequila,” I thought: this will end badly. And yet, it ended well – because in the glass landed 818, Kendall Jenner’s project. For years associated mainly with runways and photo shoots under the flashlights, she decided to step into a business that for decades belonged to Mexican haciendas, not the world of haute couture. And that’s exactly why it works. Kendall isn’t just selling you alcohol. She’s selling the impression that your tequila drinking has just leveled up from a “Friday night shot” to a “lifestyle event” based on the idea that “drinking” can be turned into an aesthetic experience. To set things straight: 818 has four editions. Blanco – clear, fresh, not yet aged. Reposado – golden from the barrel, with vanilla and caramel in the background. Añejo – more mature, deeper, for those who like it when tequila turns into a conversation instead of a race. And finally, Eight Reserve – the most spectacular, bottled in a decanter that looks like a sculpture. In flavor – cooked agave, vanilla, cinnamon, dried forest fruits, and pralines. Four editions, four personalities, all under the same area code from Calabasas. 818 is the best proof that the obvious can be told anew – even if everyone thinks they already know the ending. Instead of salt and lime, you get minimalism and lifestyle. Instead of a quick “cheers” – a narrative that unfolds slowly, like a well-timed punchline. Kendall Jenner turned an alcohol that usually disappears faster than a selfie in a story into something that truly lingers in your mind. And that’s a trick bigger than the rest of the celebrity businesses – because today everyone has cosmetics and leggings. But how many have managed to change… the taste of a conversation?
